The Autonet Mobile specializes in turning cars into a mobile hotspot, allowing you to access the internet from inside the vehicle whenever necessary. The “game” began in 2007 when it was possible to rent a car in the U.S., Avis, with the option of having Wi Fi included, for $ 10.95 a day.

The news now is that they have developed a kit to be marketed to OEM, allowing the cars already out of the factory with the option of wireless Internet. Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Volkswagen (like the Routan, the photo) and Cadillac models announced with this solution.

The kit created by Autonet is a small black box with an Intel Atom processor and Linux-based programs, which can be hidden in the trunk of the vehicle. To ensure access to the network, it uses a cellular connection EV-DO third generation technology based on CDMA networks, which allows you to connect notebook, MP3 and other portable device that relies on Wi Fi.

If you prefer (or do not want to change their car) the consumer can buy the kit directly online, in stores like Amazon.com and Best Buy, for $ 399. The monthly service plans starting at $ 29.
